Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a straight forward method of adjusting the joints of the body to improve the alignment and mobility of the skeleton, and through this process help the nervous system to work more efficiently. The purpose of chiropractic care is to realign and rebalance your body to relieve pain and discomfort, and increase mobility.
A misalignment of the joints can occur for many reasons; some of the most common are incorrect lifting, car or sporting accidents, falls, stress, and poor posture. This can lead to pain, aching, numbness, pins and needles, or restricted mobility.

The McTimoney method of chiropractic was developed by the late John McTimoney over 50 years ago and is taught only at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon, near Oxford. It is well known for being a precise, whole body approach to chiropractic care. The gentle nature of the McTimoney method makes it especially suitable for people of all ages.
What to Expect
Before your first appointment you will be e mailed a Patient Medical History form to start to complete (if you are not confident with digital forms don't worry, we will use part of your initial consultation to complete them together). At your first appointment we will go through your presenting symptoms, talk about any relevant medical history and explain what the treatment will entail. Provided there are no contraindications to treatment and that you are happy to proceed I will give you your initial examination and treatment for which you can remain fully clothed. McTimoney Chiropractic techniques do not use High Velocity Thrust, long lever or rotational neck adjustments, instead we do smaller more precise adjustments directly on one joint at a time, these shorter levers result in an adjustment that does not aim to create a crack and is usually not uncomfortable to receive. Please allow up to an hour for this first appointment. After your examination and treatment we will discuss the findings and together agree what further treatment you might need. I will never sign you up for an intensive course of treatment. As a general guide, a person can expect to have a treatment once a week for three weeks followed by increasing intervals depending on progress. My aim is to get you better and off treatment as soon as possible! Everyone is an individual and many factors will impact your recovery including age, how long the injury has been there, fitness, severity of injury and lifestyle factors. Many people use Chiropractic treatment as part of a wellness programme to enable more optimum sporting/fitness performance and as a way of keeping more physically comfortable. McTimoney Chiropractors routinely check the entire skeleton for range of movement and function and this makes it particularly useful as an MOT treatment.
